What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable dermal filler used to correct facial hollowness and deep wrinkles by gradually replenishing lost collagen. As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to skin degeneration, wrinkles, and volume loss. Sculptra targets the underlying causes of aging rather than just addressing surface symptoms. By stimulating collagen production, it helps restore facial volume and improves skin structure weeks after the initial injection, making it an advanced and long-lasting option for facial rejuvenation.

The Results Created by Sculptra

Sculptra is injected deep into the dermis to replace lost volume and promote collagen production. It addresses hollowness and wrinkles, offering subtle skin tightening and improving texture over time. While initial swelling may subside, the microparticles of polylactic acid (PLLA) work within the skin to rebuild collagen, gradually improving facial contours, smoothing wrinkles, and restoring volume. This treatment provides lasting results, often up to two years, with gradual and natural-looking improvements.

Why Sculptra?

Sculptra stands out because it not only fills wrinkles but also stimulates natural collagen production in the areas where it is injected. Unlike topical collagen creams or dietary supplements that may be ineffective due to their inability to reach the dermis or being broken down by the digestive system, Sculptra directly targets skin degeneration. It promotes long-term improvement, making it ideal for patients seeking a non-invasive solution to facial aging.

Areas of Treatment

Sculptra can be used to treat various areas of the face, including:

  • Deep nasolabial folds (smile lines)

  • Forehead lines

  • Hollow temples

  • Cheeks and cheekbones

  • Thin chin

  • Jawline definition

  • Hollowing under the eyes

  • Per-jowl depressions

  • Chin creases

  •

By adding volume to these areas, Sculptra enhances facial contours and rejuvenates the appearance.

Benefits

Sculptra is a safe, synthetic material that stimulates collagen production and offers long-lasting results. It’s made from polylactic acid (PLLA), a naturally occurring component in the body, and does not require allergy testing. Its effects can last up to two years, significantly longer than many other dermal fillers.

Good Candidates

Both men and women with facial volume loss and early signs of aging can benefit from Sculptra. Ideal candidates should be in good health with no skin conditions that could affect results. While it works well for non-invasive facial rejuvenation, more severe cases may require laser treatments or other options.

Consultation

A consultation at Avo Medical Aesthetics Spa involves discussing patient concerns, reviewing medical history, and assessing the skin to determine the best treatment areas for Sculptra injections. If eligible, the treatment may be performed on the same day.

Sculptra Treatment

Sculptra treatments typically take less than an hour, and patients can opt for anesthetics to enhance comfort. Injections are placed deep in the dermis, followed by some minor, temporary side effects like pinpoint bleeding. Results develop gradually as collagen production increases, usually requiring three treatments spaced a month apart for optimal results. The effects of Sculptra can last up to two years.
